Can you tell us about yourself and your background?
I am from Auckland, and my career has always centred around property. I began as a planner at a land‑development engineering firm, where I gained early insight into how projects move from concept to consent. This sparked a genuine interest in the broader development lifecycle, and from there, I moved into property finance at a New Zealand bank. My time there equipped me with a strong understanding of how projects are structured and funded. Over time, I became increasingly curious about what happens beyond the spreadsheet, so I moved into residential development and spent five years as a Development Manager delivering projects from inception through to completion. In 2025, I joined Pallas Capital. This felt like a natural next step as my role brings together both sides of my experience across funding and delivery.
How did you come to be part of the Pallas Capital team?
I knew a few people at Pallas Capital who spoke highly of the culture and momentum of the business. When the role of Associate – Construction Risk became available, it gave me an opportunity to step into a construction-focused position that aligned closely with my experience. It also allowed me to apply practical development insight while contributing to the growth of Pallas Capital in New Zealand.
What does a typical workday look like for you at Pallas Capital?
No two days are the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most about my role. A large part of my day involves managing our construction loan portfolio and staying close to the projects we are funding. That could be anything from attending site meetings, reviewing quantity surveyor reports, managing drawdowns, or working through program updates with borrowers. Having worked on the development side, I understand the real-world challenges that come with construction. Having a practical perspective helps us remain proactive and solutions-focused when managing our exposures. I also work closely with the Origination team on new opportunities, assessing risk early and helping structure transactions in a way that set projects up for success from the outset.
What has been your highlight at Pallas Capital so far?
Without question, the people. The New Zealand team is highly capable and genuinely collaborative; there is a strong sense of shared accountability. I have particularly valued the opportunity to contribute my development experience and help strengthen our construction capability. It feels like we are building something significant in the market.
What are some of your proudest achievements or milestones during your time at Pallas Capital?
I am proud of the role I have played in supporting the Origination team in securing several significant development projects. Being part of transactions that reinforce Pallas Capital’s reputation as a knowledgeable and dependable construction lender has been especially rewarding.
Looking ahead, what are your professional goals and aspirations within Pallas Capital? How do you see yourself contributing to the company’s future success?
My focus is on supporting the growth of the construction loan book in New Zealand and maintaining strong oversight of the projects we fund. I am motivated by backing capable developers, ensuring projects are delivered successfully, and contributing to the continued growth of Pallas Capital. Ultimately, it is about supporting ambition while maintaining discipline. That balance is what excites me about the road ahead.
