Staff spotlight: Tim Gallen, Business Development Executive

Can you tell us about yourself and your background?

I grew up in Christchurch and moved to Melbourne in 2006 to begin my finance career. After the Canterbury earthquakes in 2011, I returned home to support family and contribute to the rebuild. I was involved in the reinstatement by working in engineering consultancy, technical sales, and construction management. This gave me a strong grounding and rewarding career path in the property and development sectors before joining Pallas Capital.

Outside of work, I’m my children’s driver and chef, but I also get the chance to play golf, mountain bike, ski, and travel with my wife.

How did you come to be part of the Pallas Capital team?

I’ve followed Pallas Capital since its inception and have always admired their work. When Pallas Capital expanded to New Zealand in 2022, and momentum grew, the decision was made to open a Pallas Capital Christchurch office. In 2025, the opportunity arose to formally join the team. This is something that felt like a natural next step, and I have been with the team ever since.

What does a typical workday look like for you at Pallas Capital?

My role spans Origination and Distribution, connecting borrowers and investors with the right solutions from our product range. A typical day involves meeting with brokers, developers, wealth advisors, family offices, and other industry professionals to present our offering and onboard new clients. It’s a mix of relationship-building, education, and ensuring our clients understand the value Pallas Capital can deliver.

What has been your highlight at Pallas Capital so far?

Opening the Christchurch office alongside Associate Director of Origination, Andrew Dorgan, has been a standout moment. Establishing our presence in the South Island and building strong relationships with local property professionals has been incredibly rewarding.

What are some of your proudest achievements or milestones during your time at Pallas Capital?

Closing our first deal with a well‑known national developer was a significant milestone. It set the foundation for future opportunities and helped establish a strong pipeline that continues to grow in New Zealand.

Looking ahead, what are your professional goals and aspirations within Pallas Capital? How do you see yourself contributing to the company’s future success?

Commercial property finance is a dynamic industry that requires constant learning as the products and market conditions evolve. To keep growing our South Island presence, my goal is to maintain my professional and personal approach by continuing to share our offering at Pallas Capital to prospective clients. Having built a strong origination pipeline, my focus for the year ahead is expanding our investor base and increasing funds under management to support the next phase of growth.
